Welcome to Makro! This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when
you use our app. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree to the terms of this policy, do not use
the app.
1. Information We Collect
- No Personally Identifying Information: Makro does not collect your name, email address,
date of birth, or any other personally identifying information. You do not create an account to use the app.
- Health and Nutrition Data: When you log meals, set nutrition goals, or track macros, that
data is stored locally on your device using Apple's built-in data storage framework. Your nutrition and
macro data is never transmitted to or stored on Makro's servers.
- Widget Data: If you use the Makro widget, today's macro totals are written to a local
shared storage area on your device so the widget can display them. This data does not leave your device.
- Usage Data: We collect data on how you interact with the app — such as which features you
use, onboarding steps completed, and navigation to premium features — through Mixpanel, a third-party
analytics service. This data is anonymous and behavioural; it never includes your macro values, food names,
or any nutrition data.
- Subscription Data: If you purchase a Makro subscription, Apple processes your payment and
subscription status. We use RevenueCat, a third-party service, to verify your subscription entitlement.
RevenueCat may collect device identifiers and purchase history for this purpose.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and improve the app's features and functionality.
- To verify active subscription status and unlock premium features.
- To monitor and analyse app performance and usage trends.
- To ensure compliance with applicable laws and prevent fraud or misuse.
3. Third-Party Services
We do not sell your information. We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy
practices:
- Mixpanel — Anonymous behavioural analytics. Mixpanel receives feature-interaction events
with no nutrition data attached. Automatic event tracking is disabled. See Mixpanel's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat — Subscription management. RevenueCat verifies your App Store subscription
status and may collect your device identifier and purchase history. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store — All payments and subscriptions are processed by Apple. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
We may also share information in the following situations:
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or if we
believe such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect our rights.
- Business Transfers: If Makro is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale, your
information may be transferred as part of the transaction.
4. Data Security
Your nutrition and macro data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to Makro's servers. We
implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect any data we do handle. However, no method
of electronic storage is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access,
correct, or request deletion of your data. Because Makro does not collect personally identifying information and
stores nutrition data only on your device, you can delete all your data at any time by uninstalling the app.
6. Third-Party Links
The app may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices
of these third parties. Please review their privacy policies before providing any information.
7. Children's Privacy
The app is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal
information from minors. If you believe we have collected information from a person under 18, please contact us
to have the data removed.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted here with an updated "Last
Updated" date. Your continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
